The Basics of BIM course provides a high-level overview of the business case for BIM and what BIM is. The Basics of BIM is aimed as an introduction for those attending the Essentials of BIM, incorporating ISO 19650, as well as for those who need to understand the business case and drivers which are requiring Building Information Modelling and Information Management as a method of supporting industry objectives, such as Construction 4.0, digital twins, and the golden thread.
Construction needs to improve. Drivers, research, and industry reports have highlighted for decades the why, and how, AEC needs to get better. BIM was offered as a solution and the decade from 2011 to 2021 saw the rise of fall of BIM Level 2. But many questions remain:
o But what is BIM and what does it mean?
o What are the latest requirements and developments driving the AEC industry to change and adopt BIM? and
o What are the key international standards which are facilitating this change?
By completing this course the answers to these questions will become clear.
Developing out of the UK BIM Level 2 standards and requirements, ISO 19650 provides a series of international standards which identifies many of the processes, requirements and responses required to deliver BIM as information management.
But Information Management cannot exist as a silo and must be consistent with the existing and developing standards and processes requiring efficiencies in delivery for the AEC industry.
This course helps delegates in understanding the key concepts and principles in adopting an ISO 19650 approach to information management, as well as the importance of identifying key functions, their roles and responsibilities.
Management course provides the detail requirements of the ISO 19650 approach and is intended for those undertaking the various industry functions that support the information management workflow. From Client Organisations, Lead designers to Constructors or Task team members, it is important to understand not only what your specific role and responsibility contrails, but that of those you collaborate with.
The ISO 19650 series of standards define the high-level requirements for delivering BIM as information management. However, BIM is a collaborative exercise and information management is only one aspect of that. This Principles of BIM as Information Management courses not only provides the detail to implementing the ISO 19650 series of standards, but also puts this into the context of the other existing and developing International and European standard.
